Large marlin and tuna lures have considerable drag when being trolled, so we built the Melton Tackle Kona Rods with stiff tips for hook-setting power. Kona Stand-Up Rods are built on custom blanks with long hypalon foregrips for added leverage and the option of either the AFTCO Unibutt or Storabutt. The Black/Silver AFTCO Guides or upgraded Black/Gold Winthrop Guides are triple wrapped in signature Melton colors. The rod models “WO” and “WT” are built on composite graphite/glass blanks, offering additional performance for an unmatched angling experience. Lightweight, yet powerful, these rods are really sweet.

The Shimano Tiagra complements the Melton Tackle Kona rod, offering superb durability and performance. The Shimano Tiagra reel boasts an improved ratcheting lever drag and 2-speed gearing system.
