Made in the USA, the Melton Tackle GBF Bluefin Gunnel Rods are made specifically for tuna fisherman that require no compromises and superior components. Targeting the largest Tuna that swim the oceans, these rods are custom built using the finest blanks, guides and butts in the industry. Trust Melton’s rod building expertise and unparalleled partner resources to build your next Custom giant tuna rod. These Extra Long Rods are built with softer tips to keep the fish away from the boat and reduce pulled hooks that often accompany shorter/stiffer rods. All rods are sold BLADE ONLY which means you can use your own butts or optional butts that we offer. Both models feature a #6 Ferrule to accommodate the largest 130# class reels. Rods are ideally suited for 130#-200# test. These rods are described as having an 80Lb tip section or an 80/130 with a stiffer tip and then huge power down low. If you like the rod to bend further and are using it on the medium giants, the 80L is plenty to land everything, it will just flex more. The 80/130 has a stiffer tip section and is better suited on the Giants 500# plus size fish.
