Why purchase the SV-1200 over other reels?
The Lindgren-Pitman SV-1200 has the strength and speed for a wide variety of fishing applications. The SV-1200 features 110+ lbs. of pull, capable enough for dredging and big game fishing. One of the unique aspects of the SV-1200 is the fully variable motor, allowing the angler to slow the speed to a crawl if necessary. Changing the speed depending on the situation gives the angler an advantage in every reeling situation, the SV-1200 enables the angler to make changes on the dot, the difference between making the catch or not.
The SV-1200 features other technological advancements, all designed to make your life easier, such as a backlit digital display, no need to worry about lighting in the late hours anymore. Another unique feature of the SV-1200, is the cantilever spool design, attaching the spool from only one side, allowing the angler to easily swap out spools when necessary. Last, but not least, the SV-1200 features a hardened, corrosion resistant finish and a sealed gear system, keeping maintenance of the SV-1200 to a minimum.
What is the SV-1200 made of?
The SV-1200 Reels are machined from billet aluminum, allowing for precise and sleek styling. Billet aluminum starts as a single piece of material that is machined into the specified shape. Billet is generally accepted as stronger than casting, casting requires extra processes, such as melting and cooling, that can negatively impact the composition of the metal, possibly leaving behind air pockets and inconsistencies, hindering the metal’s strength. After the frame is machined, the exterior is sanded to smooth out any irregularities, and then immersed into a pool of sulfuric acid while a low voltage electrical current is applied in a process called anodizing. This process will result in a coat of aluminum oxide forming on the surface, creating a strong, hard surface that is resistant to corrosion.
What are the Power Requirements?
The LP SV-1200 runs on a 12 Volt direct current system with a maximum capability of 30 Amps, and the unit includes a power cord with a Hubbell 328DCP style plug. A wiring kit will be need to be installed on your boat to power the SV-1200. Melton Tackle carries a couple different wiring kit options, available as an optional add-on below. There is the for a more permanent installation, or the that sports an inline fuse and and ring terminals for easy attachment.
WARNING:
- NEVER use a battery charger to run the SV-1200 as the power is not clean and it can damage the circuitry and void your warranty.
- Do NOT modify the SV-1200’s power cord in any way, doing so will void your warranty.
Mounting
The SV-1200 weighs in at approximately 22 pounds with an empty spool, so it is important to mind the load capabilities of your rod holders.
